At MMS we can make it easier for ship operators to meet their requirements of ensuring seafarers’ access to medical care whilst keeping interference to the ships’ programmes to a minimum. Although it may be possible for a seafarer to attend a clinic appointment in the comfortable surroundings of our clinic in central Gibraltar, frequently that will not be the case. It is for this reason that all of our doctors are trained and capable of attending to patients on vessels alongside, at anchor or underway, within port limits or on the high seas.
At MMS we understand the value that this can bring to a ship operator, but it also enormously benefits the seafarer- we can see them with minimal unnecessary discomfort or duress, and also get the benefits of seeing them in their place of work and home-from-home; and can meet with and discuss relevant issues directly with the chain of command.
Patient and Captain alike can also take reassurance from the fact that all of our doctors are registered and in good standing with the UK’s General Medical Council and/or the Gibraltar Medical Registration Board. This expertise is available to the shipping industry 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
All our doctors have completed the Gibraltar Port Authority ‘Safe Embarkation Training’.
