MMS Medical Director, Dr Karl Alvarez, is gazetted as one of only two Port Health Officers in Gibraltar.  Working closely with the Director of Public Health he is responsible for liaising with the Port Captain in order to minimise the risk that communicable diseases pose to the population of Gibraltar and seafarers transiting the Port. Ship Operators can benefit from the expert advice that a PHO can offer to them.
